What Maine Dementia Partners Offers

Clinical guidance, care coordination, and hands-on family support.

It starts with a free consult.

Every family's situation is different, and so is the support they need. Whether you are still processing a new diagnosis or are burned out from years of caring, here are just some of the ways we can help:

Caregiver Support & Education

Learn about dementia in a clear and understandable way from someone experienced across all care settings. This includes tips on how caregivers can take care of themselves during this long, challenging journey and when it might be time to involve hospice care. It also covers preparing for medical decisions as the disease advances, such as what to do in common situations like hospital transfers, and understanding your loved one's wishes regarding treatments.

Care Coaching & Consulting

One-on-one sessions help families understand disease stages, develop care strategies, make decisions, and preserve dignity and quality of life. Whether preparing for a neurology appointment or choosing care, Marjorie guides you.

Uncomfortable Situations

Things come up that you couldn’t be prepared for. You’re getting calls about things your loved one is doing that seem impossible. When the brain is changing, things can happen that you don’t expect. Maine Dementia Partners walks with you through these difficult times.

In-Home Visits & Assessments

In any care setting or at home. In-home visits are available in York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec counties, and others as time and availability allow due to driving distance. Marjorie is always available via Zoom for those not within a distance she can accommodate.

Behavioral Symptom Management

Specialized support for the difficult and overwhelming behavioral symptoms that occur in advanced dementia: inappropriate sexual behavior, agitation, wandering, combativeness, sleep disruption, and refusal of care. Marjorie has worked alongside geriatric psychiatrists and brings deep clinical experience to situations where other providers don’t know what to do, such as when and how to initiate medications and when to taper.

Care Coordination & Navigation

Not every family is on the same page; sometimes tough conversations are essential for your loved one having good outcomes. Getting families on the same page while honoring the dignity and quality of life through a wholistic perspective that includes accurate medical information to give families realistic guidance as they make their important decisions.

End-of-Life Planning & Guidance

Compassionate, clinically informed guidance on hospice eligibility, goals of care conversations, understanding what do not resuscitate and do not transport to hospital orders mean and what other options are available. Supporting a loved one through the final stages of dementia is a juggling act and Marjorie offers the ability to stop juggling and instead make these decisions with clarity and confidence that they are preserving their loved ones dignity and honoring their loved one’s wishes.
