What Maine Dementia Partners Offers

Clinical guidance, care coordination, and hands-on family support.

It starts with a free consult.

Every family's situation is different, and so is the support they need. Whether you are still processing a new diagnosis or are burned out from years of caring, here are just some of the ways we can help:

Caregiver Support & Education

Learn about dementia in clear, plain language from someone who has worked in every care setting. This includes how caregivers can take care of themselves through a long, demanding journey, when it may be time to involve hospice, and how to prepare for the medical decisions that come as the disease advances: hospital transfers, treatment choices, and understanding your loved one’s wishes.

Care Coaching & Consulting

One-on-one sessions help families understand disease stages, develop care strategies, make decisions, and preserve dignity and quality of life. Whether preparing for a neurology appointment or choosing care, Marjorie guides you.

When Something Changes

The condition changes over time, and something that worked a few months ago may suddenly stop working. You’re getting calls about things your loved one is doing that seem impossible. You should not have to guess what every change means or hope you are making the right decision. Maine Dementia Partners looks at the whole picture with you and helps decide what needs attention now and what can wait.

In-Home Visits & Assessments

In any care setting or at home. In-home visits are available in York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec counties, and others as time and availability allow due to driving distance. Marjorie is always available via Zoom for those not within a distance she can accommodate.

Behavioral Symptom Management

When someone living with dementia becomes agitated, withdrawn, or combative, never assume it is just the dementia. Pain, a medication, an infection, or a change in routine may be behind it. Marjorie has worked alongside geriatric psychiatrists on the symptoms families are told are unmanageable: agitation, wandering, combativeness, sleep disruption, inappropriate sexual behavior, and refusal of care. That includes knowing when to start a medication, when to taper, and what to try first.

Care Coordination & Navigation

One sibling visits on a good day and sees that Mom is doing fine. Another is getting the late-night calls when something has gone wrong. Both people care, but they are working with different information, and that can make every decision feel like an argument. Marjorie helps families step back, look at what is actually happening, and agree on what the person needs now, with accurate medical information and realistic guidance.

End-of-Life Planning & Guidance

Compassionate, clinically informed guidance on hospice eligibility, goals-of-care conversations, and what do-not-resuscitate and do-not-transport orders actually mean, along with the other options available. Supporting a loved one through the final stages of dementia can feel like a juggling act. Marjorie helps families set the juggling down and make these decisions with clarity, honoring their loved one’s wishes and dignity.

Living far from Maine? I can be the person who is here.

Many of the families I work with live hours away from the person they love. I can see your loved one in person, follow up with facilities and doctors, and tell you what is actually happening. You get someone here who can get things done between your visits.
